ICOJ First Pilot Bridging Programme “Iftar Party 2010” successfully arranged

Alhamdu lillaah, with the Grace of Allah, Islamic Circle of Japan’s first bridging programme between Muslims and our Japanese neighbors successfully ended in 29 August, 2010 which was equal to 19 Ramadan, H.1431 at Gyotoku I&I Cultural Hall (1st Floor, Room No.3) in Chiba prefecture. Approximately 70 – 80 people gathered in a small room for 60 people. Because of the limitation in the size of place, we couldn't make this gathering a complete open invitation but targeted mainly Japanese (Muslims and Non Muslims) so we had around 30 Japanese Muslims and about 10 Japanese Non Muslim guests with helpful Muslim brothers and sisters from all over the world.

Programme started with the Adhaan of Maghrib followed by light Iftar of world varieties. Praying Maghrib Prayer lead by Abu Hakeem Ahmad MAENO, the head of Da’wah & Tarbiyah Department for Japanese wing in ICOJ, followed by a welcome words of the President of ICOJ, Ameer Amanat ‘Ali, and short but meaningful speech on Ramadan by Ahmad MAENO, then a Nasheed (Islamic song) presentation of “Burdah (Song of love and blessings to our beloved Prophet Muhammad –S.A.W.) by 4 children who go to the Gyotoku Muslim Family Saturday School at Hira Masjid every Saturday morning. After those children made many audience touched and impressed, the gathering went its final part of main dishes of world variety dinner.

Everyone enjoyed the brother/sisterhood close atmosphere and tasty foods of Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Ghana, Myanmar, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Japan, such International yummy dinner. Often the case, ICOJ gatherings end up with only Pakistani/Indian food since the majority of members are from Indian sub-continent, however, this time we were so happy to have many voluntarily hands of help in preparing world variety dishes and their attendance so that we could show a part of real pictures of Islam to our Japanese guests that Islam is the way of life for all mankind regardless of countries, colors, cultures, languages, etc.

One of our neighbors, an old lady who always smilingly offers us to park our cars in front of her house, she said when she was to leave the place smiling, “I really soaked myself in different cultures today”.

ICOJ sincerely offer its thanks and high appreciation to all those who kindly helped us and joined us to make the event joyful and successful. Jazaakumu-llaahu khairan. May Allah rewards you great.
